Mission

In 1928 St. Jerome was proclaimed "Universal Patron Saint of the Needy Youth." The Somascans continue the legacy of St. Jerome's commitment in serving the poor and taking care of orphans and troubled youth. In different countries around the world, they work for this cause in a variety of initiatives.

In cooperation with dedicated laypeople, the Somascans run and staff residential treatment centers, rehabilitation centers for drug addicts, group homes, shelters, etc. They educate individuals and families to become sensitive to these issues.

They foster human promotion, evangelization, and Christian formation through schools, technical and training centers, youth centers, parishes, retreat communities, and foreign missions. In all of these endevers, they work to build communities of faith and love.
The Somascans extend their help to the needy around the world. The Order sponsors facilities Italy, Spain, India, Sri-Lanka, The Philippines, Brazil, Colombia, Central America, Mexico, the United States and Indonesia.
